CIF Registration

This upcoming season mandates that all officials register and pass a background check as required by the State CIF.

An added benefit of the background check is that it includes Liability Insurance for just $30. The entire Certification Package, including insurance. This insurance, along with the background check, covers you for all CIF-sanctioned high school sports, which is especially useful for those of you who are doing multiple CIF sports.

Where to Register:

• Log in to your Arbiter Account.

• Click on the State CIF State Office -11820 or click on this link: https://app.arbitersports.com/registration/official/register/5749?org=9529&role=3

• At the top of the page, you’ll find a tab labeled “Registration.” Click on that to start the process.

• IMPORTANT: Registration must be completed on a computer; it cannot be done via phone.

• You may also need to use Chrome or a Google-based browser for best results.

• You must select the San Gabriel Valley Officials Softball Association

What does the Background Check Cover?

• The State CIF has not specified the exact criteria for the background check.

• It is reasonable to assume they will review your background in the county where you reside as well as in LA County.

Additional Information Regarding Registration:

• The Unit’s Assignor will NOT be able to assign you games if you:

o Fail the background check.

o Do not pass the required Unit Exams.

o Fail to register for Certification

When can I expect an approval email?

• There is currently no specific timeline for when you will receive notifications. Due to a high volume of officials applying to the new system simultaneously, processing may take some time. You can check your Arbiter Profile to see if your Background check has been completed.

If you were charged more than $30 for selecting multiple sports. Is this correct?

• No, you should only incur a single fee of $30 to cover all sports. If you are charged more, please send a copy of your receipt to Brian Seymour (bseymour@cifstate.org) at the CIF State office for assistance in obtaining a refund.

• The goal is to have a majority of the Unit complete the Background check by November 2026
